A grieving mother had the opportunity to be reunited with her young daughter who died last year in a South Korean network documentary. The brief reunion was made possible by the use of virtual reality, and it completely moved everyone to tears.
Jang Ji-Sung lost her 7-year-old daughter Nayeon to haemochromatosis, a rare disorder in which the body absorbs too much iron. “The sad mother in MBC’s “Meeting You” was finally able to see and be with her daughter again thanks to the use of virtual reality.
The producers of the show claim that it took them eight months to complete everything. They used motion capture technology in advance and worked with a young actor to serve as a model for Nayeon’s virtual representation. They even succeeded in capturing the dead girl’s voice. Additionally, they recreated the park that Jang and Nayeon frequently went to.
Nayeon approached Jang during their virtual reunion and asked:
“Mom, where have you been? Did you think of me? I miss you a lot, mom.”
Together, they went to the park, where they even had a small birthday party.
The child is seen lying in bed at the conclusion of the video waving goodbye to her mother before she magically transforms into a butterfly and flies away.
When the broadcaster shared the footage on YouTube, users couldn’t help but cry. Many viewers expressed their desire for the mother to receive the comfort she deserves and said they “cried like babies” while watching.
